Is this a good idea or not?

I say go for it! Sounds super weird and I'd think you're a little crazy if I got one as a random gift, but I'd also probably keep it around and would vent at it. At the worst, he tosses it, at the best, he likes it. Sounds like a good shot, just don't present it as anything other than a gift. IMO not the shark.
