Would you agree/disagree with me saying that human life is of better quality than it ever has been?

People say there is so much war, famine and hate in the world today but I think that human kind is at the best its ever been and getting better. Has there ever been any less war, famine and hate in the world than there is today? Are we progressing in allowing everyone things we consider human rights?
